Most brands come to us with a primary question: what study do I need to support this claim? Until recently, the answer lived in our proposals, protocols and calls with our team. This month we moved much more of it onto validatedcs.com, so you can see how we test before you ever request a quote.
Here is what changed, and where to find it.
Start with your claim
Our new Claims page lists 25 claims we substantiate, grouped into skin; OTC, actives and devices; hair, body and more; and product formats and perception. Each card explains in one line what the claim means, which methods we use to support it, and what a typical study looks like.
Those typical study designs come straight from our own studies. An anti-aging study, for example, usually enrolls 35 subjects for 8 weeks with a midpoint visit. A moisturization study measures 25 to 30 subjects at baseline, immediately after use, at 8 hours and at 24 hours. Every study is still designed around your product, but you can now see the starting point before we talk.
See the difference for yourself
Clinical photography only helps a claim if the comparison is fair: same lighting, same camera settings, same positioning, visit after visit. Our new before and after sliders let you drag between a baseline image and a follow-up image of the same panelist, so you see the change the way our graders do.
Several comparisons also show the image analysis behind the result. On the homepage, for example, the eczema and cracked heel comparisons show the measured areas at baseline and after treatment, not just the photographs. Every image in our studies is captured to a written procedure and reviewed by our Quality Department before it is delivered.
How we measure, in detail
We added the detail sponsors usually ask for during an audit, written for the people who approve the claim.
- Expert grading scales. The Expert Clinical Grading page now explains how a grading visit works, how our graders are trained, and shows example 10-point scales with the written description at each end. The full set of sample scales for face, hair, cosmetics, transfer and waterproof assays, and tolerance opens right on the page, with a PDF to download.
- Questionnaires. Our User Trials page and eight claim pages now show the kind of statements panelists rate, on the same five-point scale we use in studies, and how the answers become a claim such as “85% of panelists agreed.”
- Quality, in plain words. Eight pages, from Sample Handling to Clinical Data Protection, now describe the documented procedures behind them: how every study is checked before the report is released, how instruments are qualified and calibrated, how panelists are protected, and how our team is trained.
New pages to explore
- Skincare, Personal Care and Makeup and Medical and Beauty Devices, for brands that want to see every relevant test in one place.
- Case Studies, with published results from studies we ran.
- Events, listing the shows where you can meet our team, from NYSCC Education Night and SCC80 this fall to COSME Tokyo and in-cosmetics Global in 2027.
The site also has a new look, with a simpler menu, a clearer layout on phones, and the same navy and blue you know from our studies and reports.
