What to Expect as A Product Tester

At VCS, our Recruitment team will carefully match you up to studies that you qualify for.  Your first step in becoming a product tester starts by making a quick 30-minute onboarding visit to our office.  At this appointment, you will complete a questionnaire and get an explanation of our Informed Consent process.  A trained clinical technician will capture different attributes of your facial skin and take photos. This set of photos will be added to our internal database for future reference in consideration of studies based on visible skin conditions such as fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, and hyperpigmentation among others.

Clinical Photography at its Best

Some studies have a clinical photography component where we demonstrate product efficacy with high resolution images.  We’ll always ask for your consent in these cases.

We may also take your photo for our own internal database during your registration process, so that we can accurately add you to other studies that require prescreening in the future.

Consideration for Clinical Photography Study Participation

There are a number of factors which come into play when participating in a photo study.

You must be able to come into the lab with a bare face, with no make-up or product on or left over from the day before.

If you are found to have anything on your face, you will be instructed to remove, rewash, and then finally reacclimate before completing the photos for that visit.  This takes time and its not fun!  Please ensure to come prepared and ready for your study with a clean face.

You must be comfortable sitting still, and with the guidance of our photographer to hold a neutral expression.  Our clinical photographer takes multiple photos per session, many of which are at a different angle.

The clinical photographer may need to reposition you by turning your chair during a clinical study.  They will provide specific verbal instruction to you in order to ensure you are comfortable and ready for your next image.

How Personal Care Studies are Paid

Your participation for clinical studies will be handled directly via a reloadable debit card assigned to you at the end of your first completed study. You can even participate in multiple studies in a year!

Treat this as a normal debit card, and payouts will be issued and the end of each completed study.

If you do, make more than $600 you will be sent a 1099 at the end of the tax year.  You are only taxed on compensation you make over $600, the first $600 each year is exempt.

Referral Bonuses for Friends and Family Available

Validated Claim Support offers an incentive program for referrals. For every friend or family member you recommend, VCS will pay you an additional $25 per recommendation once that person completes their first study.  You can refer as many people as you want!

VCS is located at the Glenpointe Center in Teaneck, NJ, easily accessible by both MTA and NJ Transit.  There is ample parking for panelists who drive, and a nearby visitor’s lot for overflow traffic.

The Marriott Teaneck is onsite and acts as an excellent landmark, and we’re right off the exit from both Route 80 and I95.

Your Safety is Our Top Priority During Product Testing

At VCS we take your well being very seriously.  You should arrive wearing a mask, and you’ll have your temperature taken at the time of arrival.

We may also ask you a questionnaire about your recent travel history, and if you have any ongoing symptoms or medical conditions that we should be made aware of.

At any-time you have the right to drop out of a study or a screening process, and our team will try and ensure that you’re fully comfortable at every stage of the clinical testing process.
